AMC Networks has announced that Orphan Black: Echoes, a new series starring Krysten Ritter, will debut during the summer. The show, set within the Orphan Black universe, will first air on Sunday, June 23, 2024, available on AMC, AMC+, and BBC America.
All ten episodes will be released simultaneously, allowing viewers the option to binge-watch the entire story at their convenience. Given the captivating nature of the original series, it’s expected that Orphan Black: Echoes will also offer a compelling and immersive viewing experience.
Orphan Black: Echoes, made by Anna Fishko and unfolding in a future not far off, delves deeply into the investigation of manipulating human life through science. The series follows a cluster of women as they interlace their lives, venturing into an exhilarating expedition where they untangle the enigma of their identities and reveal a poignant tale of love and deceit. Ritter takes on the role of Lucy, a woman with an extraordinary background, as she navigates her way to belonging in the world.
According to ITVX’s description, Lucy (played by Krysten Ritter) finds herself in an unfamiliar room two years ago with no recollection of her identity or origin. Since then, she has been evading pursuit. However, her past eventually confronts her, revealing that she was engineered in a laboratory, and those responsible for her creation now seek her demise.

Fishko holds multiple roles as creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer, alongside original series co-creator John Fawcett, who serves as director and executive producer. David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, executive producers from Boat Rocker on the original series, also return as executive producers on Echoes. Boat Rocker’s Nick Nantell and Kerry Appleyard are additional executive producers, along with Katie O’Connell Marsh.
John Fawcett, one of the creators of Orphan Black, previously mentioned exclusively to RadioTimes.com that he had discussed what the audience could anticipate from the characters they were about to encounter. He explained that there were characters he had always been curious about in terms of their future developments. Fawcett noted that the spin-off project was inevitable, whether he participated in it or not, and he was intrigued by some of the ideas for the spin-off. He mentioned that the spin-off would differ significantly from Orphan Black and advised against expecting a similar experience. Fawcett emphasized that the spin-off has its own distinct atmosphere and essence, and while it retains elements that echo Orphan Black, it unfolds at a deliberate pace that he believes will engage fans as they explore its nuances.
Orphan Black: Echoes takes place within the Orphan Black universe and hints at being situated several decades after the events of the original series. While Tatiana Maslany’s return as Sarah Manning is not anticipated, discussions about her character’s fate are likely to be part of the narrative.
